Do You Need A Time Slot For The Louvre

Do You Need A Time Slot For The Louvre Average ratng: 4,3/5 1738 reviews

So... When I began planning my time in Paris, I intended on purchasing the Paris Museum Pass. I plan on visiting Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Versailles, Sainte Chapelle and possibly the Arc de Triomphe. If I add up the admission cost of each, it totals 71.40 Euros. The 4-day pass is 62. But, now with the news of the Louvre, I am reconsidering the pass. If I have to order online and have it shipped to my house, in order to go online to book a timed entry, is it worth the hassle? I can book a timed ticket for the Louvre and I am guaranteed entrance. If I book a timed ticket for Versailles, I am guaranteed entrance within 30 minutes. The Orsay and Sainte Chapelle can be purchased online and are valid for a period of months. Does having a pre-purchased tickets allow you to skip the line at the Orsay and Sainte Chapelle? If it was just me, I wouldn't be so concerned, as I have been several times already. But, I am bringing first-timers, so I want to make sure that I am making the best plans for them. Anyway... Appreciate feedback!

Slot

The iconic museum will reopen on July 6 and will require visitors to book time slots in advance, according to officials. In Europe find their way back to the Louvre; now is the time to visit. Make sure you book your Louvre tickets for a specific time slot in advance, and get into the museum with minimal fuss. If you’re overwhelmed at the amount of things to see, try a guided tour of the Louvre’s highlights to take the pressure off. Tags: Art France Louvre Museums Paris.

The only way to guarantee entry is by booking online (€2 surcharge) or making a time-slot reservation through the Paris Museum Pass. You can avoid the longest queues (for security) outside the pyramid by entering the Louvre complex via the underground shopping centre Carrousel du Louvre, or the Porte des Lions entrance. There is never a separate entry fee. All tixs are 17€ with or without an entrance time to the Leo exhibit reserved. So you have 2 choices: 1. Buy a timed entrance to the Louvre only and you don't have a reservation to enter the Leo exhibit. Buy a Tix with the Leo exhibit time reserved, and you can go into the rest of the museum afterwards. You can book a specific time slot for the Louvre and print out a ticket; I am not sure if you can do that for the Orsay. With a two week visit (great time for a first visit) I would not bother with a Museum Pass. I would however be sure to have a ticket ahead for the Orsay and for Versailles.

Things NOT to Do when Visiting the Louvre

The best way to See the Louvre in 2 hours

Don’t expect to see everything at the Louvre

A common mistake people make is to stay at a museum too long to try to see as much as possible, but this will only result in sensory overload. When visiting the Louvre, it is good to set a time limit for your visit (between 90 minutes and two hours at most) to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Avoid wandering aimlessly

It is important to have a focus to avoid wandering aimlessly waiting to run into the Louvre top attractions and miss them. Instead of briefly glancing at 100 objects and forgetting about what you saw afterward, you’ll have a better experience if you pick a maximum of 20 treasures of the Louvre and spend five minutes on each.

Don’t improvise

Choose and locate what you want to see ahead and find the best Louvre itinerary for you. With a permanent collection spread over 3 wings, 5 floors and 60.000 m2, you may end up walking kilometers and kilometers if you don’t know where to go to see your favorite artworks.
